On her first day at high school, Elena Gilbert meets Stefan Salvatore and immediately feels a connection with him. What she doesn't know is that Stefan and his brother Damon are vampires — and their arrival will drag her and her friends into the supernatural secrets buried beneath Mystic Falls.
On her first day back at school after her parents' death, Elena Gilbert meets a mysterious new student named Stefan Salvatore, and feels an instant, powerful connection to him. What she doesn't yet know is that Stefan — and his volatile older brother Damon — are vampires who have lived in Mystic Falls before, over a century ago. As Elena is drawn deeper into their world, she uncovers a town built on supernatural secrets: witches, werewolves, hybrids, and an ancient family of Original vampires whose history is tangled with her own. Across eight seasons, love triangles, resurrections, and sacrifices push Elena, the Salvatore brothers, and their friends through a war for the soul of their town — and for each other.
